Tabletop Tuesday: Rustic Bohemian

rustic bohemianIf only my roadside picnics were as pretty as this one from Elizabeth Ann Designs. This table is almost enough to convince me it would be worth carrying a box of peach linens, birch vases, and aqua goblets in my trunk at all times in case I stumble upon a grove of trees and want an impromptu magical meal.

I like this table because it incorporates so many natural elements. From the wood table, to the pheasant feathers and thistles. It’s a richly textural table only barely held together by a wild color scheme. Cobalt blue, hot pink, muted peach, bright green – there’s a lot of color going on here. The background of white cloth and vases keeps the table from looking disjointed, though, and lets the colors shine together instead of competing against each other.

I also like the simple place setting. It’s a good example of how just a few simple elements can combine to make something really elegant. A little organza ribbon, a colored napkin, and a feather. Beautiful and easily adapted to any event.

I can really only see this table working at an outdoor event. All the natural elements and colors wouldn’t translate well into a dining room. It would be perfect for a late summer engagement party when the weather cools off enough to enjoy being outside!
