I was amused by this recipe I stumbled upon this weekend (image from same link). Inspiration can strike in the strangest places. I also make a cocktail inspired by an Arnold Palmer, that refreshing mixture of iced tea and lemonade. However, while this drink sounds delicious, it’s extensive list of ingredients is a little intimidating. Mine is as simple as the original, with one important modification. I switch out the wholesome iced tea for a generous splash of sweet tea vodka, hence the drink’s name change to honor a golfer legendary for his imbibing.
Sweet tea vodka used to only be available in the South, but some of my Northern friends have reported sightings over the Mason Dixon line. There are several brands available, but Firefly is my personal favorite. A word of caution regarding sweet tea vodka – it does not taste of alcohol at all. It tastes just like sweet tea and that is dangerous! Keep out of the hands of children and grannies who enjoy large glasses of sweet tea.
To make one John Daly: Combine equal parts lemonade and sweet tea vodka over ice. Stir and enjoy!
